Arrived at the hostel.
First look around the block after checking in. Up…
…and down the street.
A first look at HK Island from near the pier.
It’s really that foggy (or smoggy), and …
… not a camera problem.
Me and the fog at the Avenue of Stars.
Jackie Chan’s star at the Avenue of Stars.
Still at the Avenue of Stars.
At the Hong Kong Flower Market.
Which is basically a long road with only flower shops.
On to the Bird Market…
…where they sell birds…
…and whatever else you need for them…
…to keep them alive.
Things not to do in HK, Part 1: No Spitting.
Yay! Free internet!
Things not to do in HK, Part 2: Feeding pigeons.
Things not to do in HK, Part 3: Releasing Fish in the HK Park Pond.
Skyline of HK Island after the Symphon of Lights.
On a wet, wet day we went on a trip to Macau.
Where new casinos like this…
…and this sit right next to…
…erm…old buildings like this…
…and this.
But hey, they have a (or the?) UN University Institute for Software Technology here.
We made it all the way to the top of the Island.
From up here it looks like this…
The Guia fortress is basically just a lighthouse and a church.
On our way back down, we visited the Ruins of St. Paul.
The Sands casino taken from the ferry terminal.
We hopped over to HK Island on the Star Ferry.
Things not to do in HK, Part 4: Burning candles.
Looking down from Victoria Peak.
That’s how we came up.
After lunch we filled on caffeine at Pacific Coffee.
And back down we go…
Back at Maple Leaf to unload all the souvenirs we bought…
…and pick up our laundry…
…and sort through our souvenirs.
Time for the Temple Street Night Market…
…where you can get almost everything – even LA Police SWAT vests.
And they have palm readers to tell you your future, too.
Today there are actually breaks and you can really *see* HK Island.
Then we visited the Kung Fu Corner in Kowloon Park…
…where they had dragons, lions,…
…more dragons…
…and lots of people of all ages…
…doing Kung Fu and Tai chi demonstrations.
At the end the tried to get all of them together for a group shot.
To finish the day, we went for a Star Ferry Night Harbour Tour.
